TecDoc Ecosystem revolutionises data management

The automotive industry is rapidly evolving, driven by new mobility concepts, digitisation and alternative drive types. With the growing complexity of vehicle configurations and the demand for faster product launches, managing product data has become increasingly challenging. The shift to real-time data processing in the automotive industry has become the new reality. To keep pace with these changes, we have introduced the new TecDoc Ecosystem.

This pioneering ecosystem marks a pivotal shift in how businesses access, manage, and process catalogue data on a local, regional, and global scale. It empowers businesses with instant data management, enabling them to stay synchronised with the rapidly changing automotive landscape.

At the core of this new ecosystem is Instant Data Processing (IDP), which processes and updates data instantly, as opposed to quarterly or monthly submissions as in the past. This eliminates any delays or inconsistencies. IDP replaces full dataset uploads with easy-to-automate updates of data via web services, saving time and reducing errors. With the TecDoc Ecosystem, parts manufacturers can trust that their product information is always accurate, up to date and readily available.

“We remain committed to delivering cutting-edge solutions that transform the automotive data landscape. With the introduction of IDP technology to TecDoc, a new era of efficiency, accuracy, and business growth has arrived for TecDoc customers.”

Jürgen Mehlis, Executive Vice President Data Manager Products.

Harnessing the power of Instant Data

The new TecDoc Ecosystem is a comprehensive suite of data solutions designed to meet the diverse needs of the automotive aftermarket. It offers three distinctive products for parts manufacturers to deliver their product data to TecDoc:

  • TecDoc ONE: A Global Product Information Management (PIM) solution. This is a scalable, cloud-based solution, enabling parts manufacturers to manage and enrich their product information to sell more products locally, regionally, and globally.
With TecDoc ONE, customers can find everything in one place, turning the complexity of different automotive standards, data standardisation to their advantage. It supports multiple automotive standards, offers export functions to various systems and integration of high-quality VIO and OE data. Many data suppliers are already using it to benefit from its advanced features and functionalities.
  • IDP Data Supplier API: This API connects a customer’s own PIM system directly to TecDoc. It serves as the direct interface for updating customer data from their system to TecDoc‘s database without the need to create and export a specific format. This innovative solution is the basis for highly efficient data management in real time.
  • TecDoc Data Wave: A data upload service for parts manufacturers who are not yet able to use TecDoc ONE or IDP Data Supplier API as a long-term solution. It offers a traditional method to transfer data that is ideal for uploading, validating, and publishing complete TAF packages.

The new TecDoc Ecosystem also provides benefits to TecDoc Data Users, such as traders, distributors and e-commerce platforms.

As the demand for timely and precise data in trade catalogues/ecommerce continues to grow, the need for innovative data solutions to streamline data management processes becomes increasingly vital. Thanks to IDP technology, TecDoc Data Users can now work with the most up-to-date data to benefit from immediate updates in the TecDoc Web Service and Catalogue.

TecDoc Data Package customers have options for accessing product data. They can use the new IDP Data Receiver API, which seamlessly retrieves the latest product data directly from the IDP channel. This enables users to access real-time product data as soon as TecDoc Data Suppliers provide it.

As another option, they can continue to use the TecDoc Data Packages, which are based on a weekly snapshot of the IDP Database in TAF Standard.

Instant data improves demand planning, inventory management, and procurement planning. It also reduces response times and improves efficiency and quality in the daily data management process.
