Growing vehicle diversity puts reliable aftermarket data in focus
)
At Automechanika Frankfurt 2026, Gwenael de Calan, Business Development Manager at TecAlliance, discussed the growing need for reliable aftermarket data, the role of the TecDoc Catalogue and our activities in India and the wider Asia-Pacific region.
The automotive aftermarket is changing. In Europe, vehicles from China, Korea and other regions are adding to the diversity of the vehicle parc.
For aftermarket professionals, this makes one challenge increasingly important: identifying the right part for the right vehicle.
At TecAlliance, we are addressing this through reliable, standardized data and by working with different players across the independent aftermarket.
Reliable data for a growing range of vehicles
As more vehicles enter the European market, workshops need reliable data to identify the appropriate parts for the vehicles they service.
The TecDoc Catalogue brings together data from multiple sources, with parts manufacturers being the primary source of spare parts information.
We work with parts manufacturers around the world to integrate their data into the catalogue and standardize how parts are described. We also work to ensure that parts can be clearly identified, that the cross-references with genuine parts are correct, and that vehicles are properly identified and linked to the relevant parts in the catalogue.
This helps users find the data they need for a specific vehicle quickly and efficiently.
India as a priority market
India already has the third-largest car parc in the Asia-Pacific region and is one of the region’s fastest-growing economies.
While the Indian car parc is still relatively young, more vehicle manufacturers are entering the market and new models are being launched. As the range of vehicles increases, identifying the right parts will become more challenging.
Our teams in India are working to expand the catalogue’s coverage of the local car parc and integrate data from Indian parts manufacturers. We also work with parts manufacturers, e-commerce platforms, distributors and workshop chains across the Indian aftermarket.
Connecting the aftermarket across markets
Automechanika Frankfurt brought together customers from around the world to discover what is new and how the aftermarket is evolving. We welcomed many international visitors, including strong representation from Asia and India.
The event gave us the opportunity to share our latest updates, news and market analysis with customers and exchange perspectives on developments in the aftermarket.
Across these markets, our objective remains the same: connecting the independent aftermarket ecosystem and giving its different players access to the right data as quickly and efficiently as possible.
