Hungary’s role in digital aftermarket collaboration

Hungary has long played an important role in Europe’s automotive landscape. As a manufacturing hub, a supplier location and a bridge into Central and Eastern Europe, the country is closely connected to many of the developments shaping the wider automotive industry.

At the same time, its independent aftermarket is facing many of the same challenges seen across Europe: increasing process complexity, rising expectations around availability and service quality, and the growing need for reliable, standardized digital collaboration. TecCom is already widely used in the Hungarian aftermarket, supporting efficient digital processes between many of the country’s key suppliers and buyers.

A focused exchange with suppliers and buyers

Against this backdrop, Hungary was a highly relevant location for our recent TecCom Business Lunch. We met with a selected group of spare parts manufacturers and distributors from the local aftermarket community in a deliberately focused setting: a small group, open discussions and enough room to talk about practical challenges in day-to-day business.

The lunch offered exactly what is needed to take digital collaboration to the next level: direct exchange, concrete questions and a better understanding of local needs. Together with the participating suppliers and buyers, we discussed how TecCom solutions can support more efficient collaboration across the aftermarket value chain, including TecCom Order, TecCom Managed Data and TMXL 5.0.

A market shaped by automotive strength and regional connections

Hungary is a market that deserves a closer look. Its automotive sector is deeply integrated into European supply chains, with a strong presence of international vehicle manufacturers and suppliers. The country’s central location also gives it regional relevance beyond its domestic size, especially as part of the wider Central and Eastern European aftermarket. For spare part suppliers and distributors operating across borders, this makes efficient, transparent and scalable digital processes increasingly important.

The aftermarket fundamentals are also significant. Hungary has a growing and ageing vehicle parc, which continues to create demand for maintenance, repair and replacement parts. According to the Hungarian Central Statistical Office, the average age of passenger cars reached 16.5 years in 2025. This underlines the importance of a well-functioning aftermarket that can provide the right parts, reliable information and efficient service processes.

At the same time, Hungary shows an interesting digitalization profile. The country has strong digital infrastructure, but business digitalization, especially among smaller and medium-sized companies, still offers room for further development. For the aftermarket, this creates a clear opportunity: digitalization is not only about introducing new technology, but about making everyday cooperation easier, faster and more reliable.

Turning digital collaboration into daily business value

TecCom Order helps buyers and suppliers digitalize their order-to-returns processes, reduce manual effort and improve transparency in daily transactions. TecCom Managed Data supports the exchange and management of article, pricing, availability and regulatory data, helping companies provide accurate and up-to-date information to their trading partners. With TMXL 5.0, our standard for digital message exchange, we also provide the data structures and quality framework needed for future-ready digital aftermarket processes.

In Hungary, this digital collaboration is already part of daily aftermarket business. Seven of the largest buyers in the country, together accounting for more than 80% of the local aftermarket trade, use TecCom as a fully integrated solution, connected directly to their ERP systems. In total, nearly 60 buyers in Hungary place orders through TecCom Order, covering a significant share of the local market. Most of them also use TecCom Managed Data. On the supplier side, all multinational spare-parts suppliers with a distribution center in Hungary are connected to TecCom, making their products available to the global TecCom buyer network.

“Hungary is an important market for us because it combines a strong automotive tradition with a practical, open-minded aftermarket community. Our goal is to strengthen digital collaboration with local suppliers and buyers, helping them make daily business processes easier, more efficient and more transparent. Working in this region is especially rewarding because companies are hands-on, value-driven and open to constructive dialogue.”

László Pesti, Sales Manager SEE at TecCom

The TecCom Business Lunch in Hungary provided an important forum for this ongoing dialogue. It gave us the opportunity to listen, exchange ideas and discuss how we can continue to support the local aftermarket on its digital journey. As the region continues to develop, Hungary will remain an key market for building stronger connections between aftermarket players and turning digital collaboration into practical business value.
