Inter Cars scales automation with TecCom

When a company operates at scale, even small inefficiencies in order management quickly become big ones: more manual handling, more errors, and slower response times for customers who need parts immediately.

In this interview, Adam Dziuba, Deputy Director of the Product Development Department at Inter Cars, explains how TecCom has helped Inter Cars accelerate express ordering, reduce mistakes through real-time data exchange, and create a more standardised way of communicating with major suppliers while freeing team capacity for higher-value work.

Key takeaways

  • Automation at scale: Inter Cars has automated the majority of express-order flows with TecCom, dramatically reducing manual handling.

  • Faster ordering: Real-time stock and order exchange speeds up procurement and improves responsiveness.

  • Fewer mistakes: Less back-and-forth email communication means fewer errors caused by outdated stock/price information.

  • Capacity unlocked: Automation freed up the equivalent workload of two FTE from repetitive express-order work, who were reassigned to higher-value tasks.

  • Standardised supplier communication: TecCom provides a single channel across major suppliers, avoiding one-off integrations with individual supplier systems.

  • Next steps: Migration to TXML 5.0 and further expansion of automation scenarios.

Large-scale investments in automated warehouses, data platforms, and AI-driven planning underline the company’s strategy to combine scale with efficiency and digital connectivity.

Inter Cars relies on TecCom to automate express ordering and standardise supplier communication, accelerating procurement while reducing manual effort and errors.

Adam, could you briefly introduce yourself and your role at Inter Cars?

Adam: My name is Adam Dziuba and I’ve been with Inter Cars for 18 years. I started in product development and over the years progressed through different specialist roles. Today, I’m the Deputy Director of the Product Development Department. Our department is quite large, with around 60 people, and we work directly with TecAlliance solutions in our operations.

When did Inter Cars start using TecCom solutions and which ones are you using today?

Adam: We’ve been working with TecAlliance for a long time. TecDoc data is part of our daily processes, and TecCom plays a central role in how we communicate and transact with suppliers. We use TecCom to place orders and check stock availability in real time.

Who uses TecCom at Inter Cars?

Adam: In my area, express order preparation is managed by one manager and four employees. The key point, however, is that most of the process is automated, so it’s not a manual “order-by-order” workflow.

Around 95% of the suppliers we work with through TecCom can receive orders automatically. That makes TecCom a major communication channel for us, especially because most of our key suppliers are already connected to it.

How was express order management organised before TecCom?

Adam: It was mainly manual communication, meaning phone calls and emails. We would email the supplier, wait for availability confirmation, then follow up again about details such as pricing and delivery timing.

From today’s perspective, this approach feels very outdated. The big challenge was that information could change between messages. A supplier might reply the next day, but by then stock levels or prices could already be different. That led to delays and errors.

How do you process orders today and what share runs via TecCom?

Adam: It’s hard to estimate an overall percentage across all suppliers, because not every supplier segment is covered in the same way. For example, suppliers from sectors like marine or motorcycles may not be connected to TecCom.

However, for our main suppliers in the passenger car segment, TecCom is a key channel. Also, within Inter Cars, the organisation is split: one department handles stock orders, while another, including my area, focuses on express orders. Both order types can run through TecCom.

What were the main reasons for choosing TecCom Order?

Adam: The biggest advantage is speed: fast order execution and instant access to stock information. TecCom also enables us to automate the process, which is a major improvement compared to our former manual workflows.

Another important benefit is that both quantity and quality improve. We can process more orders while reducing errors, because the data is available in real time.

There’s also another crucial aspect: suppliers share express-order data in TecCom, and we can integrate that information directly into our systems. Having this availability information “at our fingertips” is very valuable.

How does TecCom support standardisation across suppliers?

Adam: Many suppliers have their own systems, but when they are connected via TecCom, we can communicate through a standardised process. This means we don’t have to adapt our workflows to each supplier individually. Instead, we can automate a single process and scale it across our supplier base, which is a huge advantage for a company of our size.

Can you quantify the ROI of the automation?

Adam: I don’t have exact KPIs or percentages available, but the impact is very clear. We save time, and time is money. Errors are also reduced.

A very tangible benefit is that we saved the equivalent workload of two people who used to work mainly on express orders. We didn’t reduce headcount, but by automating routine tasks, those colleagues are now able to take on other responsibilities that add more value to the organisation.

How would you describe the cooperation with TecAlliance?

Adam: Very good. I’ve worked with Magdalena Czechowska for around seven or eight years, and more recently also with Krzysztof Wojtasik. They are always helpful and easy to reach. Whenever we need support, it only takes a call or a message. If we face a challenge, they help quickly and find a solution fast.

What are the next steps in your cooperation?

Adam: Our immediate priority is preparing our system for the new TecCom standard, TXML 5.0. This requires technical adjustments on our side, but the investment clearly pays off by making our processes more robust and dependable.

Stability and reliability are extremely important for us. Every improvement that reduces errors and system interruptions directly protects our business, because downtime means lost time, lost orders, and ultimately lost revenue.

Thank you very much for the interview!
