Customer Contract FAQs
These FAQs are provided for general informational purposes only.
They do not form part of any contract and do not modify or replace applicable agreements or TecAlliance General Terms and Conditions.
In case of conflict, the respective contract and GTC shall prevail.
Cross-references are links between parts from different manufacturers. For example, a manufacturer may create a cross-reference between its part and a comparable part from another manufacturer. In TecDoc environments, cross-references may appear in a designated structure, for example with wording such as “found via comparison number”.
The permitted use of cross-references depends on the applicable agreement and the relevant TecDoc product terms. As a general principle, customers should use cross-references only within the structure and scope made available by TecAlliance. Reverse use, independent creation, extension, or modification of cross-references may be restricted and should be checked against the applicable agreement. If you are unsure whether a planned use is covered, please contact TecAlliance before implementation.
The TecDoc data is basically only approved for trade with new parts. Use for the sale of used parts, which are parts that are reused without reworking by the manufacturer and still bear the trademarks of the automotive manufacturer or the original parts manufacturer, is not permitted. So-called refurbished parts are an exception. These are used parts that are marked with a brand name or the trademark of the re-manufacturer and do not differ significantly from new parts in terms of their quality standard, function and service life.
Use of TecAlliance data on sales platforms, online marketplaces, price comparison sites, or similar third-party environments depends on the applicable agreement and on whether the relevant platform use is covered by the customer’s license. Customers should not assume that notification alone is sufficient. Prior coordination with TecAlliance is required, and the relevant platform, marketplace, or third-party environment must be reviewed against the contractual scope.
Upon request, TecAlliance can provide information on whether a specific platform or use case is compatible with the customer’s agreement or requires an additional arrangement.
As a general principle, TecDoc data should not be modified, rebranded, or used for a private brand unless this is expressly covered by the applicable agreement or separately approved by TecAlliance. Where a customer intends to market private brand products using TecAlliance data, a separate agreement or additional contractual authorization may be required.
Please contact TecAlliance before using TecDoc data for private brand purposes.
Customers using TecAlliance data are expected to keep the licensed data up to date in accordance with their agreement and the applicable delivery model. For data packages, this may require importing updated data within the customer’s reasonable technical and organizational possibilities. For web service-based models, current data may be made available through the service itself, subject to the applicable conditions.
The exact update obligations depend on the relevant agreement, product, delivery method, and technical setup.
Caching may be permitted only within the limits set out in the applicable agreement. Customers should not treat caching as a general right. The permitted scope may depend on the technical setup, the type of data, the purpose of caching, the retention period, and the applicable product terms. In particular, customers should check whether the applicable agreement limits caching to temporary technical purposes, excludes certain data categories, or requires data to be refreshed or deleted within a defined period. If a customer intends to store, copy, mirror, or otherwise retain TecAlliance data outside the agreed technical use, this should be reviewed with TecAlliance in advance.
TecAlliance data should only be obtained through TecAlliance, its affiliated companies, or authorized contractual partners, resellers, or other authorized channels. Customers should not rely on data sources whose authorization is unclear. If there is uncertainty about whether a source is authorized, customers should contact TecAlliance before using the data. Use of data from unauthorized sources may lead to legal and contractual risks.
The systematic copying or typing of data from the TecDoc Catalogue Web and the transfer of this data to other systems constitutes an infringement of the copyright of the TecDoc database and a licence violation; it is therefore not permitted.
Combining TecAlliance data with data from other sources may be possible, but it depends on the applicable agreement, the source of the other data, and the intended use. Customers remain responsible for ensuring that they have the necessary rights for all third-party data used together with TecAlliance data.
If you are unsure whether a planned combination is covered, please contact TecAlliance before use.
TecAlliance data is licensed for use only within the term and scope of the applicable agreement. After the end of the agreement, the customer must stop using the licensed TecAlliance data and delete copies stored on its systems. This helps protect TecAlliance rights, third-party rights, and the integrity of the licensed data. Customers should review the applicable agreement for the exact post-contract obligations and any permitted retention exceptions.
