Ismaning, 30 June 2017 – TecAlliance GmbH, known throughout the world as the industry standard for the provision of vehicle and article data and repair and maintenance information as well as for the handling of electronic business processes in the international spare parts market, has founded the digital data marketplace Caruso. Based on the idea of an industry solution for telematics data, an exciting project was created and recently a separate company: Caruso GmbH. Now TecAlliance is looking for additional shareholders to support the building of an innovative aftermarket solution. This will ensure Caruso’s independence and neutrality.
Caruso is a neutral and open data and service marketplace where data suppliers in all sectors can take part, offering both their telematics and complementary data to the aftermarket. The more suppliers are represented in the marketplace, the more diverse the possibilities for users to link the data together to create exciting telematics services. “The interest in data concerning vehicles is great. It now plays a central role in all areas. Caruso offers companies the opportunity to direct their business models towards the changed market requirements with value creation in the digital aftermarket”, explains Jürgen Buchert, Managing Director of TecAlliance. Data users such as fleet operators, workshops and insurance companies can access a large variety of information via Caruso’s digital platform – especially data that the vehicles will themselves send in the future – and thereby develop and present customised solutions to their customers.

Behind Caruso is a dedicated, young, highly skilled team, which will be developing the digital data marketplace into the “place to be”. The technological prerequisites have already been fulfilled and the go-live is planned for October. To ensure market relevance, market penetration and acceptance, strong partners are needed in addition to the team. The plan is to get more shareholders on board during the year. These will include service providers and companies from the fields of trade, insurance and fleet/leasing. Smaller market participants are also required: access to the digital IAM of the future is particularly difficult for them. A heterogeneous shareholder environment makes the offering even more attractive to users. Any shareholder can be both a supplier and a user of data. Caruso offers data-supplying companies an additional cost-effective sales channel for their data; for users, Caruso represents a readily accessible, digital data marketplace as a place to purchase telematics data. Caruso shareholders now have the unique opportunity of helping to shape the strategic alignment of an emerging industry standard. TecAlliance will also offer its data and services via Caruso. For example, in the future telematics service providers will also be able to access and use Caruso for RMI or TecDoc data.
Caruso is profit-oriented, but will pay no dividend to shareholders; instead, all profits earned will be reinvested in the further technological development of the marketplace.
TecAlliance has been compiling vehicle master data, spare parts data and repair and maintenance information worldwide for over twenty years. Parts data is collected for all manufacturers, prepared according to the TecAlliance standard and provided to spare parts traders for ordering purposes and to workshops to perform competent vehicle repairs and maintenance in over 30 languages.
