For the first time ever, TecAlliance honoured the world’s best data suppliers with the ‘Data Supplier Award’. Three awards were presented at the ‘TecAlliance Data Management Conference DACH’. The list of nominees included more than 700 brands from the TecDoc Catalogue, one of the world’s leading spare part catalogues. Robert Bosch won first place with the ‘Bosch’ brand, MANN+HUMMEL achieved second place with the ‘MANN-FILTER’ brand and Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket won third place for its ‘LuK’ brand.

Almost 50 data suppliers accepted the invitation to participate in the ‘TecAlliance Data Management Conference DACH’ in Cologne on 13 and 14 May. Participants took advantage of the event as a platform for exchanging information and networking with TecAlliance experts and industry peers from the DACH region. They also participated in technical lectures, training programmes and workshops covering the entire field of data management.

Honouring the best of the best in data quality

The highlight of the evening event was the presentation of the Data Supplier Award 2019 to the world’s top three TecAlliance data suppliers. All participants were very interested in this part of the event. The prize winners were selected due to their outstanding performance in the categories of timeliness, accuracy and usability of data for catalogues.

“We congratulate the prize winners and are happy to officially honour our best data suppliers with the Data Supplier Award for the first time. The selection was based on a survey of the most important data users in the trade sector”, explains Jürgen Mehlis, TecAlliance’s Executive Vice President Data Management Product & Sales. “Data quality is critically important to the sustained success of parts manufacturers in the independent aftermarket. Spare parts and vehicles can only be identified quickly and precisely at the point of sale if the data is accurate, up-to-date and complete. Only an optimal database can facilitate automation and digitisation throughout the entire supply chain in the independent automotive aftermarket”, says Mehlis.

More than 700 brands are currently represented in the TecDoc Catalogue, one of the world’s leading aftermarket catalogues. It covers more than 110,000 vehicle types, 6.6 million sets of product data spanning more than 700 brands, 254 linkages and 48 product groups. The TecDoc Standard, which is celebrating its 25-year anniversary this year, provides for the highest level of data quality, comparability, efficiency and transparency in the global automotive aftermarket. TecAlliance uses the Data Supplier Award to honour those Certified Data Suppliers whose data fulfils the stringent quality standards in an exceptional manner. These Certified Data Suppliers contribute to lasting commercial success and strengthen trust in the database of the TecDoc Catalogue. The Data Supplier Award will be presented again next year.

A very special prize: The limited Fine Art Print Edition of TecAlliance

As a prize, each of this year’s winners received a copy of the limited TecAlliance Fine Art Print Edition, which was created by Berlin-based artist and graphic designer Stefan HO. The design, based on an artistic interpretation of TecAlliance’s corporate design, plays with the abstract expression of digitisation and mobility. This result is a simple and impressive Fine Art Print Edition, which makes use of the lines in the TecAlliance logo to expose them as raster elements on a square surface. With perceived regularity, some of the lines are penetrated by blank spaces and end in small colour fields. The eye perceives a pattern – a digital code. Free associations turn the lines into roads and the disruptions into moving vehicles. Stefan Hofer has succeeded in capturing and manifesting TecAlliance’s complex activities in a single image.

The smiling winner: Robert Bosch (Bosch)

“The management of the Bosch Automotive Aftermarket division is very happy to receive this prize, which recognises our commitment to data quality. This appreciation strengthens our motivation to not just retain this high level but keep improving it. Our company attaches an extremely high priority to data quality, which is why we use internal testing processes to guarantee compliance with the defined quality parameters. Precise checking and response to SRS customer information helps ensure the continuous improvement of these processes. We go into the market and collaborate with our customers to prepare solutions to meet their requirements. This increases the data quality and strengthens customer orientation”, says Uwe Stork, Process Management Product Assortments and Media (AA/SCE4), Robert Bosch.
