The European Association of Automotive Suppliers, CLEPA, hosted the fifth “CLEPA Aftermarket Conference” in Brussels on the 28th of November 2013. This event has in the meantime developed into the leading aftermarket forum and serves as a platform for a lively exchange of information on current matters, trends, and new developments in the industry. The TecAlliance CEO, Jürgen Buchert, delivered a well-received speech on the theme of “Connected Business – Distribution and Supply Chain”.

He described the spare parts supply chain through the view of a service provider who is focussed on the aftermarket. He then gave a detailed analysis of the four stages of a successful value-adding network and concluded by highlighting the importance of B2B (business to business) and O2O (online to offline) businesses. He also gave a description of the principal opportunities and risks associated with the lasting changes taking place in purchase behaviour, brought about by buyers’ increased usage of providers such as Amazon and new technology such as smartphones.

Jürgen Buchert’s 25-minute presentation was very well-received.

CLEPA represents more than 3,000 companies and is therefore the most important political platform for European automotive suppliers. The association represents its members to the outside world with the objectives of strengthening the position of aftermarket companies and promoting common interests.

Additional information on the speakers and themes may be found at the CLEPA website. The 6th CLEPA Aftermarket Conference will again take place in Brussels on the 27th of November in 2014.
