This month we celebrated International Women’s Day. A day to honor the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. And a call to action for accelerating women’s equality. Individually, we’re all responsible for our own thoughts and actions – all day, every day. All together, we can choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequity. Our colleagues shared their thoughts and feelings on diversity and gender equality and how they choose to challenge.
Salomé Fikouhi, Senior Business Consultant
Equality for me is: To consider and see every person based on his /her behaviors, attitudes and character and being not influenced by his/her gender.
Gender equality is an important topic because it arises the awareness about the fact that all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.
For me diversity means more “tolerance and respect”. Accepting and respecting each other gender, beliefs and differences and celebrating the beauty and the diversity of it.
diversity is important to me because it creates an atmosphere in which I as a woman feel free and confident, not being judged “small”.
From the challenge comes the change that’s why I feel I need to participate in this attempt and tackle the thoughts and the perspective of “seeing different”.
Shanna Hofstede, HR Partner
Diversity is important to me because I see diversity as a business success factor. A diverse team performs better, creates more understanding between people from different backgrounds and studies show: diversity equals success.
From challenge comes change. That’s why I challenge the world to consider diversity as a priority in any aspect of life: business or personal.
David Winter, Executive Vice President
For me diversity means that the world is a richer and more joyful place where a smile can light up your day.
From challenge comes change. That is why I challenge the world to care for every single individual and to put a cheeky smile on all our faces.
Angélica Alejandra Ledesma López, Support & Parts Analyst
Gender equality is an important topic because there is still a long way to go in the world so that this human right is reflected in effective opportunities, access to quality opportunities, access to quality education, decent health and economic prosperity for all people. Let’s support the empowerment of girls and boys and women who still suffer some type of violence and discrimination.
From challenge comes change. That’s why I challenge the world to acknowledge the achievements of women around the world, the struggles we have to endure day after day to achieve gender equality.
Erik Rimmasch, Group Manager Administration
For me diversity means that abilities count more than gender roles. I hope that more women find their way to technical as well as men to creative jobs.
From challenge comes change. That’s why I challenge the world to… Forget about gender. Focus ability.
Sabine Seide, Partner Manager
Diversity is important to me because…I am a woman and women have not been treated and are still not treated with the same rights and in the same way as men are, and in my opinion, women have not the same chances as men in working and political decision processes since ages, and still.
From challenge comes change. That’s why I challenge the world to…get better equity rights. Women shall have the same payment as men under the same circumstances and not 25% less (i.e. in Germany).
Ernesto Flores, Support & Parts Analyst
For me diversity means a successful community in which individuals of different race, ethnicity, religious beliefs, socioeconomic status, language, geographical origin, gender and/or sexual orientation bring their different knowledge, background, experience, and interest for the benefit of their diverse community.
From challenge comes change. That’s why I challenge the world to understand that we are all different and that it is not bad, it benefits us
Petra Keller, HR Operations Lead
Equality for me is that people feel they are treated the same, regardless of gender, status, position in a company, skin color, etc.
From challenge comes change. That’s why I challenge the world, stop enriching yourself at the expense of others, stop oppressing, torturing, killing people. Human dignity is inviolable: treat everyone with the respect and esteem you want to be treated!
Bryan Rozman, Agile Master
Gender equality is an important topic because women continue to struggle against sexism in all aspects of their lifes.
From challenge comes change. That’s why I challenge the world to celebrate a woman of color rising to the office of Vice President of the United States.
