At Tantivy, data management is also subject tothe continuous improvement process. Until2017, the supplier obtained external assistanceto collect and maintain product data. However,the product data team found the task of keepingthe data at a consistently high-quality level to beincreasingly time-consuming. The ever-increasingquantity of data could hardly be managed.The result: A lack of consistency in the productdata and a partly outdated data pool. ‘Although we were delivering to locationsaround the world, our data was not in line withthe TecDoc standard defined by TecAlliance.This caused a lot of challenges for Tantivy in thebusiness and affected customer satisfaction’.

However, the task of maintainingand entering product data at the qualitylevel required for integration into theTecAlliance system is sometimes quite complex.TecAlliance has provided the DMM data managementmodule to make the process of integrationeasier for suppliers. This data maintenancetool supports the provision of data atmultiple levels. For example, suppliers can usethe correlation with criteria and generic articlesto describe their products. This gives rise tohigh-quality data in the standardised TecDocformat.
